My name is Miriam Juliana.. most everyone calls by some shortened version of that (Julie, Juli, Julia, Jul, Juls), except for my daddy who calls me "Julie-Annie". I'm 35 years old/young, depending on my mood. I picked my screen name simply because I am a woman, from Kentucky, and I do love that Neil Diamond song. I was orginally "KyWoman33", then "KyWoman34", but when I turned 35, I was broken-hearted to find that someone else on AOL had the nerve to get to "KyWoman35" before I could... so after a few weeks of aimlessly wandering through various "Ky" screennames that just didn't feel right, I stumbled upon "TheKyWoman", which fits so comfy, I'm going to try to keep it forever.
I have a fantastically warped and twisted sense of humor (sorry :D ), I love wisecracks, jokes, and pranks. My family considers me to be the "wild one" of the bunch; I shock them on a regular basis with my outbursts of risque humour. I love to laugh, but I don't get the chance to do so nearly enough. I love music, most any kind of music, but especially 70's music (those who check my profile periodically know that I routinely change my profile quote from one song lyric segment to another). I was raised in a strict Christian household (daddy was and still is a preacherman ;D ), I wasn't allowed to listen to that sinful rock-n-roll music; so the one thing that I never learned to do that I would very much like to do... is dance; seriously, this lady cannot dance.
I love hummingbirds, they are so tiny and yet so tenacious, and I collect hummingbird "stuff" like figurines and art prints. I recently developed a new collecting interest... Nancy Drew mysteries... the old, vintage ones that haven't been "re-written" into politically correct modernized versions. I want to have a complete collection by the time my daughter gets old enough to read them. My trivia "dream game" would be an "All Nancy Drew Trivia" game :D And yes, I really do go sit at the airport and watch the planes.
As for history, I was born December 3, 1961, in <gasp> Dayton, Ohio. Thank goodness my parents came to their senses and moved back to Kentucky when I was six. I love it here, even though my state seems to be the butt of many jokes. I'm probably not your typical example of a Kentucky woman, though. I dropped out of school after completing the eighth grade to get married (that is a common thing here in ky). I was divorced by age 20 and found myself suddenly tossed out into the real world, with no education, no job skills, scared out of my wits. I got this wild idea that I wanted to go to college, so I took the state GED test, got my high school diploma, and spent five and a half years earning a four year degree, a BBA in Computer Information Systems. Somewhere in that same five and a half years, I managed to find time to re-marry and have my first child.
I had a surprisingly (to me) successful career as a computer programmer, writing small government financial software, for over five years before the guilt about not spending enough time with my young children set in. So I resigned from my job and concentrated my energies toward raising two fantastically gifted and wonderful children; Kyle is 11 years old, SarahBeth is 5 years old. After a year of being completely separated from my career, my company and I both decided we just couldn't live without each other, so now I do on-again, off-again contract programming and technical writing for them when they get really desperate. It keeps my job skills from deteriorating completely and gives me a little extra pocket change for things like AOL and books. SarahBeth starts school this coming fall, and I plan on going back to working full-time then, which means I will be cutting my AOL time drastically, but until then, you will see me camped out in one trivia area or another.
